Happy Chinese New Year. I have a wonderful friend who adopted from China as well that does a great job of getting our little group of local Chinese Adoptive Families together each year. This year for Chinese New Year, our small little group grew. A couple of more families joined us for the celebration.
We had lots of activities to keep the kids busy while the adults visited and shared our stories.
This week we are also celebrating Maddie's Gotcha Day. This year marks 2 years that she came into our lives. We all marvel at how fast the time has flown by since this date 2 years ago. It seems like only yesterday but we have crossed so many hurdles that I know we have lived each day of that 2 years.
We gathered as a family and enjoyed some chinese food at a local Chinese Restaurant. We laughed, enjoyed cake and had a great time. Keith's sister made Maddie's Gotcha Day Cake. It was so beautiful and had so much meaning to each element she put on the cake.
When I think about our lives before Maddie - I can't remember what it felt like. Life after Maddie is so full of laughter and joy. She makes you realize what is really important in this life. One moment that stands out to me, when I think back to that first day with her, was the moment several hours after getting her, she outstretched her arms for me to pick her up. I remember that my heart skipped a beat in that moment of connection with my baby girl. I cherish each day that I am blessed with her in my life.
Happy GOTCHA Day baby girl. We all love you very much.
BTW - no word on Mia yet - still waiting on LOA from China.
